Public funding 

Public research funding mainly refers to funding provided by public communities and funds (EU research funding, Academy of Finland, Business Finland and various foundations). 

The funding provider's guidelines and regulations, as well as the same guidelines as in any other externally funded studies, are complied with in carrying out the studies. In addition, depending on the type of research, the researcher needs the same permits and statements. Personal grants are not administered through the wellbeing services county of North Savo if the researcher is on leave from his or her own job. 

Academic cooperation 

A characteristic of researcher-driven research carried out by a group of researchers is that the results of the research are freely available to all members of the group. The team of researchers should, for example, agree in advance in writing on the responsibilities and implementation of the research.   

Grant application periods 

Funding applications for grants are ongoing throughout the year. Please check the exact application period on the foundations’ websites. Application periods may begin and end in the middle of the month. There is a continuous application process for some funding.
