In the laboratory, we examine, e.g. blood, urine and stool samples, spinal fluid, synovial fluid, and tissue samples. Laboratory tests play a central role in examining the state of health and diagnosing the disease, as well as monitoring the effectiveness of medication and treatment.
When you come to the laboratory, you should have examination referrals from the physician’s or other health care professional’s reception.
The laboratory services are generated by ISLAB municipal federation for well-being (ISLAB Laboratory Centre).
A laboratory examination request must always be made in advance to a physician or other health care professional in order to take a sample.
Starting 01/01/2023, all sampling service units serve on the basis of reservation.
Book an appointment for a laboratory examination electronically via ISLAB’s website or by phone.
Only emergency sampling functions without reservation.
Before sampling, get acquainted with the instructions issued by the attending physician or laboratory.
For examinations requiring fasting, you must be without nourishment for at least 10 hours; for urine sampling, the urine should be in the bladder for at least four (4) hours.
Avoid smoking, consumption of alcohol, and physical exertion prior to sampling.
Please come to the sampling and ECG tests on time, as it is a good idea to sit for 10–15 minutes before the test. Bring your KELA (National Health Insurance) card with you: showing it speeds up the procedure.
The laboratory examinations are free-of-charge when a public health care referral has been provided.
Appointment by phone to obtain laboratory examinations, you will need a referral from a doctor or other health station or health centre health care professional.
A call-back service is available on weekdays from 8:00 am to 12:00 noon. Your phone call will be registered and you will be called back during the same day by 3:00 pm. On weekdays between 12:00 noon and 2:00 pm, you will obtain direct contact with staff to ensure an appointment.
