The wellbeing services county of North Savo employs a data protection officer who acts as an independent expert. 

The Data Protection Officer 

• gives advice on the rights of data subjects 
• carries out inspections and assessments on the processing of customer and patient data 
• cooperates with the supervisory authority (the Data Protection Ombudsman) 
• provides the staff of the wellbeing services county with information and advice on how to observe data protection regulations 
• monitors observance of the requirements of data protection regulations in the activities of the wellbeing services county 
• gives advice to the staff of the wellbeing services county on how to estimate the risks and impacts of the processing of personal data.
