For the subject

As a research subject, you are an important part of scientific research. Scientific research provides information on new and existing treatments and their effects on health. Researched information may lead to the development of safer and more effective treatments.

The research act guarantees your rights as a research subject when you participate in research. The subjects are volunteers who have given informed consent to participate in research. You have the right to refuse the research and stop participating in the study at any time without it affecting the treatment of your illness. Studies involving subjects have both a positive endorsement of the regional committee on medical research ethics and a research permit from the organisation.

As a research subject, you will participate in the study when you have signed a written consent form. At the same time, you agree to your data being collected and processed for the purpose of the study. All collected data concerning you is confidential.

Participation in research is always voluntary and can be withdrawn without consequences. As a research subject, you will be informed about the study through a recruitment notification that includes the following information:

  • name of the researcher and place of research with contact information
  • possible sponsor of the study
  • main content of the study and / or examination visits and/or procedures
  • preparation or treatment under research
  • criteria for selecting the group to be researched
  • duration of the study
  • possible compensation to the subjects

As a research subject, you may be reimbursed for costs caused by the study and loss of income, as well as for the costs of other detriment. Such costs shall be reasonably reimbursed on the basis of actual costs. If so requested, you must present the necessary receipts, salary certificate or other such documents.

According to the research act, no fee is paid for participating in research. If you are not reimbursed, the researcher will notify you of this before signing your consent.
