The Regional Research Committee for University-level Health Research in the Eastern Finland
The Regional Research Committee for University-level Health Research, mandated by the Health Care Act, oversees the distribution of State Research Funds for research projects within its region. Its primary role is to foster and manage the conduct of university-level health research across Eastern Finland's collaborative area. The committee consists of a diverse group of professionals drawn from health care institutions within the region.
The Regional Research Committee supervises the application process for State Research Funding and allocates funds to eligible research projects based on their applications. Annually, the Committee submits a report detailing the distribution and utilization of funds to the Ministry of Social Affairs and Health, ensuring that the allocations are in accordance with the established priorities.
The government distributes funds to research committees for university-level health research in collaborative areas. These research committees receive these funds after a decision from the Ministry of Social Affairs and Health. State Research Funding allocation is contingent upon aligning with the research priorities and objectives established by the Ministry, in addition to the research's quality, scope, and impact in the past four years. Counties providing wellbeing services, state mental hospitals, and service providers specified by a Ministry of Social Affairs and Health decree are entitled to apply for this health research funding.
